About

The Rough Ashlar is about the search for Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty as embodied in teachings and practice of Freemasonry. In its pages and postings I hope to share the Light, Love and joyful Labor I discover as a Master Mason in shaping the stone which is himself as a Servant of others.

The aim of Freemasonry is to build men of high moral integrity, committed to self-development and helping others. Here the Light shines from the East to illumine the paths of all good men who wish to become better. It is my hope that there will be interest and inspiration for those who stop by as brother wayfarers on the Journey. Please join me in the shade of the Temple’s portico and share the Wisdom that reaches across the centuries and generations.

This website is a Mason’s labor of love, but it’s nothing without the valued contributions of other Brothers who also share in work of the Craft. Please help polish The Rough Ashlar with your thoughts, comments, suggestions and contributions.

This website is the personal site of a Master Mason, not affiliated with, sponsored by or paid for by any particular lodge, grand lodge or other Masonic organization, nor do the opinions expressed here reflect the opinions of any Masonic organization. This website also does not disclose any of the esoteric or secret portions of ritual of any of the Three Degrees. The contents of this website are readily available from open sources and may therefore be discussed with, and read by, any person interested in acquiring knowledge about Freemasonry.

Questions and comments are always welcome. Please stop by the Correspondence Page and “sign the ledger!”
